Callie’s Story Founder, Callie Freeman PhD, is an avid fly angler, passionate fly casting instructor, professional entomologist, published author, and public speaker. Callie jokes she has been fly fishing since the late “1900s” when her father, inspired by “The Movie” (i.e. “A River Runs Through It”), packed three generations of family up and headed to Boone, NC for lessons. In the time since, Callie has had the opportunity to live on the East and West coasts and fish for a multitude of species from redband trout to steelhead to redfish. Be sure to check out her favorite fishing moments in the gallery. Callie’s passion for fly casting and teaching has led her to pursue certification as a Fly Fishers International Casting Instructor under the outstanding mentorship of Master Casting Instructor Mary Ann Dozer. Callie is excited to share her passion, ease new members into the sport and aid advanced anglers in improving their skills!
Consulting Aside from fly fishing instruction, Callie consultants with the Green Industry as the owner and principal scientist of Parker BioLabs LLC where she establishes research protocols, trouble-shoots insect pest problems and developing environmental management plans for certification compliance.
