Women in Waders Hit the Salt!
Members of Women in Waders Upstate leadership team recently headed down to Beaufort, SC in search of tailing redfish. Local guide Tuck Scott (Building Anglers) arranged an incredible lineup of captains with Zeke Brant (Hidden Creeks Fishing Charters), Robert McAlister, and Rob Alexander (Green Heron Adventures) leading our group of intrepid anglers.
Despite challenging conditions from Hurricane Imelda, our guides kept us safely tucked away from the elements and on the fish. We were glad we decided to forget the forecast! Three of our anglers landed their first redfish on the fly! The trip was such a success that we’re already rebooked for 2026 and have added four additional anglers out of the Charlotte based Women on the Fly – Carolinas!

Our second annual trip also coincided with the Southeast Council of Fly Fishers International’s fall event Fishing the Waters of the Southeast, hosted by local club Sea Island Fly Fishers. Friday evening featured a warm Lowcountry welcome with a lively meet-and-greet at Shell Ring Ale Works, complete with delicious hors d’oeuvres and an educational session on wading local creeks with expert John Mathews.

We rounded out the weekend by soaking in the Beaufort Shrimp Festival, enjoying fabulous meals at Fishcamp on 11th Street, Panini’s On the Waterfront,Johnsons Creek Tavern and (our favorite repeat spot) Lost Local. It was a wonderful weekend full of fish, friendship, and unforgettable memories on the water.
